Why I'm the Right Personal Trainer For You — Even If You've Never Felt "Ready" to Start

Why I'm the Right Personal Trainer For You — Even If You've Never Felt "Ready" to Start

If you've been putting off getting fitter — not because you don't want to, but because something's held you back — I want you to know that hesitation makes complete sense. And I want to spend a few minutes telling you why I might be exactly the right person to help you move past it.

"What if I make things worse?"

This is, by far, the fear I hear most — and if you're managing a long-term condition, recovering from something, or simply haven't moved much in a while, it's a genuinely sensible thing to be cautious about, and totally understandable.

Here's where I'm a bit different: I hold a Level 3 GP Exercise Referral qualification, which means I'm specifically trained to work safely with long-term health conditions. That includes things like osteoporosis, arthritis, cardiovascular conditions, and falls risk. I don't guess. I take a full history, screen properly before we start, and build your programme around what's actually going on in your body, not a generic template. Where it's useful, I liaise directly with your GP or physio.

Movement, done well, isn't something to be afraid of — it's one of the most protective things you can do for a long-term condition. But it has to be done properly, and that's exactly what this qualification exists for.

"I haven't exercised in years — won't I feel out of place?"

You won't be walking into a room full of people who've been training for a decade. Sessions with me are 1:1 or small group, and everything starts from wherever you actually are — not where you think you "should" be. There's no assumed fitness level, no judgement, and no rushing.

I work with genuine beginners often. Deconditioning isn't a character flaw, and it isn't something to be embarrassed about. It's simply the starting point we work from.

"Is this actually worth the investment?"

This is a fair question, and I'd rather answer it honestly than dodge it.

What you're paying for isn't just "a workout" — it's expertise that reduces your risk, a programme built specifically around your body and your goals, and accountability that makes it far more likely you'll actually stick with it. Most people who try to figure this out alone either avoid starting altogether, or start too hard, too fast, and stop again a few weeks later. A properly designed, professionally guided programme tends to get you further, more safely, and with far less second-guessing.

And if you're not ready for ongoing sessions, that's fine too — I also offer one-off check-ins, so you can get a form check or a professional opinion without committing to anything bigger.

What you can expect from working with me

  • A programme built around your actual health history, goals, and starting point — not a generic plan

  • Qualified, evidence-based support (Level 3 PT, Level 3 GP Exercise Referral, Level 3 Mat Pilates, and pre/post natal qualified)

  • A patient, non-judgemental approach — however long it's been since you last moved regularly

  • Flexibility - ongoing 1:1 support, small groups, or a single session if that's what you need right now

If any part of this resonated — the hesitation, the "is it too late," the not knowing where to start — that's exactly who this is for. I'd love to have a conversation about what getting started could look like for you, with absolutely no pressure.
